Leeds is a major tourist hub and there are literally many places to see in Leeds. Leeds has excellent connectivity via air, rail roads and even the sea. The Leeds Bradford International airport connects it to most of the major destinations abroad. The roads M1 connect it to London, M6 to Manchester and A1(M) along with the seaports cities of Liverpool and Hull to the north, while the Metro Trains connect it to all parts of the city.

Kirkstall Abbey

This is a Cistercian abbey built in a park in the 12
th century along the River Aire. It has the Abbey House Museum in the gatehouse.The Temple Newsam house has remarkable Jacobean architecture.

Lotherton Hall

This hall has plenty of art collection and a bird garden.

Royal Armouries Museum

Located in Clarence Dock, it is the national museum of Leeds with traditional glass cabinets and live performances throughout the day. Entry is normally free.

Leeds Art Gallery

Situated in West Yorkshire, this gallery has important traditional and contemporary painting, drawings, sculpture and prints.

Henry Moore Foundation

This registered charity promotes fine art and has been instituted for educational purposes. It provides fellowships , grants and aid to many art institutions.

Leeds International Pianoforte Competition

This competition is held once every three years and has launched many names in the field of music like The Rhythm Sisters, Spice Girls etc.

Leeds International Film Festival

This is the largest film festival hosted outside of London and show cases films from all over the world. It also includes the Leeds Young People’s Film Festival.

Yorkshire Bleeps and Blass

Leeds is the epi-centre for music and this was one of their leading bands along with Nightmares on Wax, Leeds Bassics Records etc

Leeds Carnival and Leeds Mela

The Leeds Carnival is the oldest West Indian Carnival that runs for three days. It has stalls and provides great entertainment. The Leeds Mela is the biggest Asian festival held every year at Roundhay Park

This has the best shopping area called the Leeds Shopping Plaza. You can also visit the Victoria Quarter, Leeds Kirkgate Market, the Merrion Centre Leeds etc.
